Hello! My name is Claire Platt and I'm a London based knitter/sewer/drawer and former Art and Textiles Teacher. In 2007 I completed my BA (Hons) Drawing and Applied Art, specialising in embroidery and later went on to complete an MA (Design) Textiles branching out into knit.
My art pieces tend to be playful and quirky and combines my love for textiles with somewhat unlikely subject matter. I have been fortunate to have shown my work both nationally and internationally, including being shortlisted for the UK Hand Knit Award in 2010, exhibiting in Touchstones Gallery's 'Knit One, Purl One: Contemporary Knitting' and winning the Grannies Inc. 'Design a Vest' competition in 2011. I was also interviewed and featured within Leanne Prain's book, Hoopla: The Art of Unexpected Embroidery.
I first began blogging during my University days (around 2005) in order to share my studio journal but as I've grown up it's evolved to a platform to just share things I'm doing such as... things I'm making (knitting, sewing, dressmaking, drawing), daily outfits, baking/cooking*, gardening and the occasional travel related visit to yarn and haberdashery stores! In addition to this blog I am co-creator and co-contributor of the teaching blog I Heart Teaching Art.
