craft shops: Edinburgh and Brighton

Recently I've been lucky enough to have been adverturing around the UK a bit and have had the chance to check out a few different yarn and fabric shops. For my birthday Matthew whisked me up to Edinburgh! It's a beautiful city and despite only being there for the weekend I managed to squeeze in a visit to Ginger Twist Studios. The shop is tiny (in a fantastic way) and is crammed full of local yarn - including their own hand dyed range of yarns. The selection of colours were fantastic and there was a good range of patterns available too! Well worth a visit if your in the area. I had also planned to visit Be Inspired Fibres, but they were closed the weekend we were up! Boo!

This week we daytripped to Brighton to enjoy the sunshine and the beach! Whilst wandering we accidentally stumbled upon YAK. (which was rather handy as I was planning to try and locate it later in the day!) The range of yarns available is amazing and there's handy pattern folders to help you match up patterns with the yarns in store as well as some beautiful examples knitted up and dotted around the shop. We also happened upon the Brighton Sewing Centre all the fabrics were beautifully laid out and the staff were really lovely! There's also two brilliant fabric shops in the laines if you're up for hunting for a bargain!

Here's what I've picked up from my visits, some pink & black cat print fabric - yep! I'm gonna make myself a crazy cat lady dress and a plain purple cotton for a bit more of a normal look! Still loving my Elisalex Dress so much that I think I'm gonna make it again with these!
