the knitting and stitching show!

Ah the beginning of October can only mean one thing (it's matt's birthday...) and the Knitting and Stitching Show! So on Sunday I got myself up to Ally Pally to enjoy it all! I haven't been on a Sunday for many years now and it felt much calmer than last year when I went with my students on a Thursday. I also found this year I was looking for something different! Normally I go up with a few stalls in mind but I'm most interested in checking out the exhibition spaces, this year however I was all for shopping and scoping out some new yarns. I was also on a bit of a festive mission, Christmas gifts and in particular, decorations. I grabbed some fyberspates yarn from laughing hens (with a nice little show discount) as I'm planning to knit a few people one of the 'doris the drape's' I made myself last month and I also got some cute pattern fabric from Cotton & Steel to make some cushions for our living room. Moving house this year has meant that for the first time ever I will have my very own Christmas tree so I'm planning to try and knit all my decorations! Fortunately there was a lot of kits and festive knits on offer so I wasn't let down. I snapped up the Baa Ram Ewe dingle baubles kit and some Navia yarn (festive pattern en route via email!). I also spoke to the lovely ladies at the Age UK stall - their new campaign, knit a warm home, is fantastic! You can get involved by knitting a home for them for Cold Homes Week in February - you can download the pattern - HERE.

Visits to both stalls meant meeting some lovely people as well! On the Baa Ram Ewe stall I met the lovely Rachel of Coop Knits both her lilac hair and sock patterns are amazing! On the Navia stall I met one of my favourite instagramer's the sweaterspotter, was slightly starstruck and then incredibly excited as she snapped me for her instagram! It feels like something to check off the list, getting spotted by the sweater spotter! woo hoo! I also took a picture of her because WOW that knitted dress...

It was a super fun day and I can't wait to get on with my new knits!
