'Be my co-pilot?' hand embroidered lancaster bombers on screen printed canvas

I finished this piece this morning - only a small addition really the words 'be my co-pilot?' are from a song I like (you win if you can name the band!) and something I wrote on a card I made for matt once for valentines day (aww) which looked similar I guess, three planes and the text. I liked the process, quick sketch, straight to fabric, embroider, finished. I like the simplicity of it - I wouldn't jump and say it's the best thing I've ever made but something about it is making me really excited, happy and positive when I look at it. I can't wait to make up the plane I've made for the show and hang them next to each other - I'm hopefully I'm going to love the outcome!

I'm venturing onto new grounds with the last piece I'm making. I think I ought to make a pact with myself that I must blog the outcome whatever it is (just incase it doesn't go smoothly! I must learn from mistakes!) In case you wonder what on earth I might be making these makers have been very inspirational: claire coles, esther coombs, Diem Chau and Lisa Grue. I'm excited and nervous, mostly because it's the first time in absolutly ages that i'm going to draw and have it actually be the outcome without textiles... if that makes sense!

This piece of work is lovely - really like the contrast between the outline of the plane and the background.
